Structural Integration and Natural Movement Training in the Lewisville and DFW area
Kali Johnson
Kali Johnson is among few progressive practitioners blending movement work with manual therapy. Her work is guided by her deep grasp of human anatomy and bio-mechanics. She is a proud Aggie with a B.S. in Kinesiology: Dance Science from Texas A&M University (2018). Research based education has led her to various opportunities in dance performance as well as scientific research (presentation and publication details available upon request).
Kali is licensed manual therapist. She is a partner at Structural Elements in Lewisville, Texas where she works as a movement teacher and corrective and structural bodyworker. As a movement teacher she is strongly interested in helping her students move with mindfulness, growing their kinesthetic awareness. When training others she is focused on restoring fascial pliability, resurrecting lost motor patterns and grooving in new ones. Kali takes a multidisciplinary path; employing teaching methods from ballet and modern dance, improvisational movement, contemporary Pilates, MovNat®, Animal Flow® and her own work as a modern dance choreographer. She is currently pursuing further certification with Animal Flow® and has completed Level II certification as a MovNat® practitioner.
Kali is on a track to become a board certified structural integrator. Inspired by the work of Ida Rolf and structural integrators like Tom Meyers and Robert Schleip, she is driven to deepen her knowledge of neuro-myofascial therapy. As a manual therapist and kinesiologist Kali works with care and precision; skillfully unwinding fascial strain which is at the heart of so many orthopedic problems.
Kali is also an experienced dancer who has worked with Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company, Third Rail Dance Theater, Eisenhower Dance, Kathy Dunn Hamrick, Jesse Zaritt, Erica Gionfriddo and Jane Weiner. During her college career, she performed in over 100 pieces, including as the soloist in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. After graduation, Kali moved to Israel for five months to complete the International Dance Journey program with Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company. She offers classes for children as well as modern dance classes and workshops for professionals through her company, Kaliopi Movement Collective.
Kali Johnson practices, plays and trains alongside her husband and very accomplished movement trainer Zack Johnson and Structural Elements partner Isaac Chilton.
